California State controller hurt in car accident

The California State controller was involved in a car accident on Friday, July 13. It was near the Posey Tube, and the crash was so bad that all of the lanes were blocked until emergency crews could get things cleaned up and moving again.

Reports indicate that she was in a car with her husband at the time of the accident. It was an unmarked car, though it was a state-owned vehicle.

As she and her husband were driving along the road, their vehicle was hit from behind by a man in a Nissan sedan. That man is 25 years old. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said that both the California State controller and her husband got hurt in the wreck. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The man who was driving the Nissan was badly hurt, suffering major injuries. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

However, the CHP suspects that he was under the influence of marijuana when he caused the accident. As such, reports say that he is going to be arrested and booked at a county jail when possible. They just have to wait for him to heal and get out of the medical center first.

A third vehicle was also involved in the crash. The impact was violent enough to shove the state vehicle forward until it hit the next car in line. The woman driving that car did not get hurt, however.

Rear-end accidents are often impossible to avoid for those driving slowly or even stopped ahead of a negligent driver. When people suffer serious injuries, they need to know what legal options they have to seek financial compensation.
